It's been a long, long winter.....

The first quarter of 2011 has been long and COLD here in Connecticut. The winter snowfall was so heavy and persistent that we didn't see our garden for over two months and quite often the snow was higher than Daniel! So, our first New England winter has certainly been a baptism of fire and our nieghbours have been at pains to stress that this isn't the norm! In the meantime, we're still waiting for the delayed arrival of spring.

Fortunately the enduring cold spell has been broken up by a few holidays. We had a wonderful week on the Riviera Maya in Mexico in January, where we all enjoyed lots of sun, beach and pool time, and Jo looked on enviously while James enjoyed the occasional frozen margarita.

We then made a quick trip back to the UK in February to see our families while Jo could still travel reasonably comfortably; it's coming to something when Chester in February feels spring-like compared to what you've left back home! Of course, with a toddler in tow, some things are the same no matter where you are in the world: on a rainy afternoon, you inevitably end up in the local 'soft play' to keep them entertained!

We're now on countdown to baby Tornos no. 2's arrival - less than five weeks to go if he decides to show up on time. So, expect our next blog to include news of the new addition.....
