The 4th July weekend arrived at a bitter-sweet moment for us - good in that we felt that, with Jonathan now turned two months old, we'd got enough routine and organisation back into our lives to be able to entertain friends over the weekend (he really is an adaptable and placid little baby), but sad as a few weeks earlier we'd said goodbye to our good friends and neighbours the Boyds, as they moved to Kentucky for Jeff to take up his first role as a fully qualified bone radiologist. We miss them and are already planning a spring trip to Louisville next year. In any case, with the long awaited summer finally here, it promised to be a great long weekend - reflected in the Tornos boys' smily faces.......
Daniel and Jonathan are enjoying getting to know each other, and we can see that as Jonathan gets bigger, these two will be as thick as thieves....
On the Saturday of the long weekend, we barbecued for our friends Alice and James, Stef and Adam, and their respective kids, Archie and Edward, and Alfie - not a female child in sight, so the boisterous boys revelled in splashing about in the inflatable pool....
Daniel marked the 4th with gusto as he tucked into a stars and stripes cupcake, looking at one point like he was also going to eat the plate....
whilst mummy and daddy finally managed to get a picture together with Jonathan. Our next challenge is to get one of all four of us!
A great time was had by all at the barbecue, and James did us proud with burgers, hot dogs - and some tandoori chicken skewers as a nod to our UK roots!!!
The following day, we were delighted to have a visit from our London-based friends Marg and Greg, who happened to be holidaying with the jet set an hour down the road in Westport. As usual they came bearing gifts, among which a lovely cuddly koala (nod to Marg's roots and fresh from Australia) for Jonathan, and a gorgeous wooden red London bus for Daniel - his new favourite toy. Question for Marg - how did you manage to escape from our house without having the obligatory blog photo taken??!!
Not much happening now until Labour Day weekend at the beginning of September. Until then we'll be here enjoying the sunshine and the beach.
